Jeff’s Place Receives Nearly $274,000 in Grants in 2021

Funds to be used for programming and more

Framingham, Mass. – (February 8, 2022) – Jeff’s Place Children’s Bereavement Center, the Framingham-based not-for-profit that provides free grief support groups for families who have experienced a significant death loss, today announced that it received $273,363 in grants from several local and regional organizations in 2021.

Jeff’s Place received the final $25,000 installment of a four year-grant as part of the $100k for 100 organizations to support our programming from the Woburn-based Cummings Foundation.  In addition, the Cummings Foundation awarded Jeff’s Place an additional $30,000 as a one-time Impact Grant for general operating expenses.

The Sudbury Foundation, a private charitable foundation working to transform lives and strengthen communities through grantmaking and scholarship programs in Sudbury and surrounding communities, awarded Jeff’s Place $20,000 to cover increased renovation costs related to handicap accessibility at its property as well as an additional $25,000 grant as part of its special 2021 Proactive Grantmaking Initiative, which funds general operating support in light of the impact of COVID-19.

Jeff’s Place received anonymous awards of $40,000 to support general operations and the move to its new home. 

The Parmenter Foundation, Wayland, has been and continues to be a significant partner to Jeff’s Place and awarded a $33,963 grant to fund Jeff’s Place’s outdoor oasis space, which will provide additional areas for support group meetings.

Jeff’s Place received the final $25,000 payment for a two-year grant from The New York Life Foundation to support bereavement program expansion.  

The Haley Cremer Foundation, North Easton, a public charitable foundation committed to providing financial assistance for programs dedicated to heal, grow and strengthen families facing profound challenges due to serious illness, trauma or death, awarded $20,000 to Jeff’s Place to fund its GriefMOVES Program, extending its financial support for a fifth straight consecutive year. 

 

The Natick-based Foundation for MetroWest awarded $15,000 to Jeff’s Place to support the expansion and provision of critical bereavement support services for MetroWest youth and families through the MetroWest Emergency Relief Fund.

The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation awarded Jeff’s Place $14,400 to support funding to expand our clinical program.

Boston Scientific Endoscopy awarded $10,000 for program expansion to fully sponsor half a support group for a year.

MetroWest Health Foundation awarded Jeff’s Place $10,000 to complete safety repairs for the new Jeff’s Place home.

The Rivers School’s River Givers also supported the development of Jeff’s Place outdoor space with a $4,000 grant. 

The Plymouth Church in Framingham granted Jeff’s Place $1,000, which was used for general operating program support.

Many foundations and grantmakers adjusted their giving rules to ensure that non-profits were able to provide critical services to their constituents during COVID. About Jeff’s Place: Jeff’s Place provides free grief support groups for families who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. It serves children ages three to 18, along with their caregivers, as well as young adults aged 18 to 25. Jeff’s Place offers hope and healing in a supportive community for grieving children, teens, families, and individuals. Our vision is that no one grieves alone. All groups are facilitated by both a clinician and a trained grief-informed volunteer. Jeff’s Place also provides individual and family counseling along with crisis intervention and professional educational trainings about childhood bereavement for local schools and organizations.
